Holiday Dessert Roundup
It just doesn’t feel like the holidays without dessert. Am I right? If you’ve made the switch to a paleo diet, then desserts can seem off limits. They don’t have to be. It’s not like you are eating sweets every single day. Choosing the highest quality ingredients you can afford and find will help, too.
Ever since I made the switch to paleo, I find it much easier to resist sweets. I still struggle on occasion, but my sugar dragon knows who is in charge these days so I can indulge every once in a while and not feel guilty or derail my progress.
Pumpkin Custard
LXLMS
My pumpkin custard is one of my favorite go-to desserts when I want a little something on the sweet side and yet don’t want to waken my sugar dragon. Since I control the amount of maple syrup that goes into the mix, I feel like I can make it more or less sweet depending on the situation. When I make it for a family gathering, I add a bit more maple syrup. When I make it for myself or to just have at home, I add less.
It’s great both warm out of the oven and cold. With the pumpkin and the eggs, you are getting both protein and vegetables. This is a custard you could feel okay eating for breakfast.
Luscious Lemon Curd
I love my lemon curd recipe. It’s both sweet and tart and pairs well with berries or other fruit. Similar to the pumpkin custard above, you can moderate the amount of maple syrup you use to make it more or less sweet depending on who you are serving it to.
Yumtastic Salted Caramel Chocolate Candy Cups
I caution you before making these Yumtastic Salted Caramel Chocolate Candy Cups. They are addictive, but so, so yumtastic. They are worth the effort. These are perfect to make ahead. I recommend leaving them in the fridge until ready to serve.
