21DSD - Day 21!
Last day!!
It’s the last day of the detox. I did it. I finished strong and feel good about what I’ve accomplished during this detox.
I know I haven’t written much in the past few weeks, but I have a very good reason for that. There is a series of exams that I am taking at my day job that require some intense studying. Before I started this detox, I debated whether I should do it or not. I was scheduled to take one of these exams during the last week of the detox, and I wondered if I was biting off more than I could chew, so to speak.
Then I reminded myself of what I had accomplished with the last detox I did in March. I learned that I could manage stressful periods at work with healthy alternatives to the junk that I had been resorting to for awhile. I decided to take the plunge, do the detox and focus on studying for my exam during the process. I ate well every day. I managed to get on the treadmill to read the book for my exam most days. In fact, I read the entire book, which I never really do when I take one of these exams so that is something.
During the stressful periods, I added in sweet potatoes to help manage the stress. The sweet potatoes really helped me navigate the stressful days without feeling like I was going to come unglued.
How did I do?
Well…I took the test last week. It’s one of those where you find out if you passed or failed at the end. I PASSED!! Yay me! I’m not sure how I passed because much of the material looked nothing like what I had studied for the last few weeks. I guess it was a good thing that I put so much effort into studying or I might have bombed the test and had to fork over a few hundred bucks to retake it.
My biggest takeaway is how easy it was to get up and study on the treadmill each morning. (For those who didn’t read my earlier post, boring material like what I’ve been studying puts me to sleep. I can only get through it if I read while walking on my treadmill.) I noticed that I woke up more refreshed and ready to put in my 30 minutes on the treadmill each morning before work. I’m already brainstorming how I plan to use what I’ve learned to study for the next exam.
If you’ve been looking for a way to conquer your sugar and carb cravings, the 21-Day Sugar Detox is it. I've listed a few links below to get you started. I'm not getting paid for promoting them. I just love the sense of freedom I have from sugar and carb cravings and want to pass it on to those around me.
