Marinara sauce is a versatile recipe that acts like a superhero in the kitchen. Whip up a batch of meatballs, freeze them individually, toss a few in a container, top them with this superhero sauce, and you have a quick and easy lunch for work. Making meatloaf? Add a half cup to your meatloaf mix and spread a little on top to keep it from drying out. Saute up some ground beef, garlic, and herbs. Ingredients
1-2 tablespoons olive oil
2 onions, diced
2 carrots, diced
2 celery stalks, diced
6 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon parsley flakes
1/2 teaspoon thyme
1/2 teaspoon basil
2 bay leaves
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
2 28 ounce can of crushed tomatoes
Salt and pepper, to taste
Directions
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.
Add the olive oil to a Dutch oven heated to medium to medium high heat. Add the onions, carrots, and celery. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cook until the vegetables are tender.
Add the garlic and stir for about a minute, just until you can smell the garlic. Add the herbs and stir.
Deglaze the pan with the balsamic vinegar and add the tomatoes.
Place in the preheated oven and cook for one hour, stirring occasionally.
